“Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.” ~Anne Lamott
How incredibly true is this quote? We all need to recharge and revive ourselves, particularly if we’re stuck. Whenever I am faced with a challenge, in my work or personal life, I think. I think and think and think–in the shower, on a walk, in the car. Usually by not reacting immediately, I work through various scenarios and find the best solution. That’s not to say that I’m always right, or that the solution doesn’t change as more information is received, but typically it’s a solid plan forward.
The next time you have a block at work, or your kids are driving you up the wall, or you’re frustrated at a situation with a friend–leave it alone. Don’t react; cool your head and do something you enjoy for a little while. I guarantee you, you will still be processing the other problem in the back of your head, almost unconsciously. More often than not, your aha! moment will come, and you can address the issue in due time.
One exception–design and organizational issues. At that point you should definitely call Stephanie and I. 😉 Happy Friday, everyone!
